Youth SportsFrequently Asked Questions
How do I become a recreation official or scorekeeper?You need to have a desire to learn the basic skills required to work youth or adult sports. Training will be provided. Complete a job application to get started.
How do I reserve a ball field or gym court for practice or games?Please call the Great Bend Rec office at (620) 793-3755. Online reservations will be available soon.
How do I become a Great Bend Rec coach?There is a coaching application and background check that will be required before coaching. Coaching can really impact the youth in our community and is critical to the success of any youth sports program.
How do I apply for a scholarship?There is an application process that needs to be completed prior to enrolling. Please stop by the enrollment desk to start the process.
Are the Rec Leagues sanctioned?No. The Rec Leagues are not sanctioned. The only sanctioned sports leagues are the youth tournaments and the Sunflower State Baseball League.

- Facilities may be used only by Great Bend Rec/USD 428/City of Great Bend and affiliated groups or organizations for scheduled activities and practices.
- Foul language is not permitted by players, coaches, or spectators. If you are found breaking this policy, you may be asked to leave the facility and/or banned from the tournament or league temporarily or permanently.
- Alcohol is not permitted in any of the sports facilities.
- Smoking is not permitted within facilities.
- No food or drink allowed on gym floors. (only bottled water)
- Team coolers are permitted inside the GB Sports Complex. Individual coolers are not allowed inside the complex. There is a concession stand available at the main building.
- Grills or cookers are not permitted.
- Pets are not permitted within facilities.
- Soliciting is not permitted.
